DRESS FOR THE WEATHER Please be sure to send your child with appropriate outerwear for morning recess as well as lunch recess.
Students might want to keep an extra change of clothes in their locker in case they get wet at recess.

Please remember to send a healthy snack!
From the Teacher’s Desk It is important that your child reads every night. They are not required to complete a reading log but it is expected that your child reads every night for at least twenty minutes.

We are always looking for donations of gently used games for indoor recess!

In reading, the students have been using their thinking about their characters to find deeper meaning in books. Readers have also created meaningful book chats about their characters with their turn and talk partners. They have been listening to their partners ideas and adding more to those shared ideas by asking “Why Would?” or “Would You?” This helps the readers to create new thinking about their characters from their partnership conversations.

Please encourage your child to practice their math facts for at least ten minutes every night. They should continue to practice basic facts using any fun and exciting tool such as, flash cards or other games. For other specific math news, please refer to your child’s math family letter.

G.U.M. (Grammar Usage & Mechanics)

The students have continued with their G.U.M. activities. We have been focusing on common and proper nouns.

Social Studies
The 2nd graders are working on creating communities and community maps. As we continue through the week the students will begin to study landforms.

In writing, we have been working on creating ALL ABOUT BOOKS by researching a particular weather topic. The students have gathered information from books, websites, and a video. The students are very excited to share the information that they have learned!
