Dear Families of Room 21,

Listed below is the latest update from Room 21:

From the Teacher’s Desk

It is important that your child reads every night. They are not required to complete a reading log but it is expected that your child reads every night for at least twenty-minutes.

MATH

Please encourage your child to practice their math facts for at least ten minutes every night. They should continue to practice basic facts using any fun and exciting tool such as Xtramath.org, flash cards or other games. For other specific math news, please refer to your child’s math family letter.

READING is THINKING!!

In reading, the students have been working on making connections to build comprehension. The students made text to self, text to text and text to world connections. They will continue to use this strategy when reading. Looking ahead, your child will work to make inferences to understand the characters’ feelings, motivation and actions.

WRITING is EVERYWHERE!

In writing we have been working on personal narratives. The students focused on a small moment to develop their personal narratives. Looking ahead, the students will work to publish their writing.

Social Studies

The students have enjoyed learning about communities. They are learning that a community is a place where people live, work, play and solve problems together.
